Westinghouse unveils first 3D HDTVs, Soundbar

Westinghouse, known for its budget-priced HDTVs, showed us its promised HDTV lineup for 2012 at CES. This included the company's first speaker product in the form of its Bluetooth soundbar. It has two 12W speakers and contains a Class D amplifier.

The new LED sets are headlined by the 70-inch UW70 flagship, which, along with the 55-inch EW55, has a 1080p, 120Hz panel that gets an 8ms response time. Users can access a 3D noise reduction feature, get a 3:2 pulldown for film content and three choices of color temperature. They sport three HDMI inputs, one component input and a VGA input.

The 70-inch flagship will arrive sometime during the second quarter for an estimated price of $2,300, with the EW55 coming during the first quarter, with a $990 price tag. The 40-inch 1080p HDTV with a 120Hz panel will cost under $500 when it launches in the second quarter.

An ultra-slim 46-inch was also shown, which gets a thin bezel and near 0.75-inch thickness, other than a thicker rear connection area. The 120Hz panel gets a 6.5ms response rate. It gets two HDMI connections, one composite and one VGA/component input.

The 32-inch EW32 has 720p resolution, while new 24-inch EW24 and 22-inch EW22 ($200) sets are meant for gamers and double as monitors with 1080p resolution, along with the 19-inch, 720p EW19 ($160). All have fast 5ms response times and get two HDMI, one component and one VGA port.

There was also a CCFL set displayed, which is available in 32-, 37-, 39-inch sizes and the demo 50-inch CW50. A new size we hear will be popular among TV makers this year is 39 inches (38.5 to be exact) and Westinghouse had a CW39 showing. A 37-inch CW7 was also there, and all get three HDMI inputs, a component and VGA port. The 32-inch CW32 will be coming later this year as well, with 720p resolution, three HDMI inputs, one component and one VGA input.

The maker will also reveal its first 3D TV, the W47, which is due to ship in the second quarter for ($900). It has 1080p resolution and a 6ms response time. It will ship with four passive glasses.

Finally, the teased Bluetooth soundbar made an appearance. WSB-N20BW can connect wirelessly using Bluetooth and sports an 85Hz to 20kHz frequency response.
