May be last before public release
Apple yesterday began seeding a fifth build of OS X 10.7.3 to developers, reports note. Listed as build 11D42, the code is arriving about three weeks after the distribution of the last beta. Developers are being asked to concentrate testing on five key components: Address Book, iCal, Mail, Spotlight, and Safari. A delta version of the update currently measures 989.75MB.
Official text states that v10.7.3 will add Catalan, Croatian, Greek, Hebrew, Romanian, Slovak, Thai, and Ukrainian language support to Lion, and fix three main problem areas. These include logging in with a smartcard, authenticating with directory services, and finally compatibility with Windows file sharing.
Unofficially the finished v10.7.3 may contain drivers for upcoming Mac Pros, and reflect work on an ultra-sharp MacBook Pro display. Some rumors suggest that the current build is effectively the gold master of v10.7.3, or if not, something extremely close. In either case it may mean that v10.7.3 will be made public in the very near future, possibly within days.
