Incorporates lyrics, sharing, concert dates
Shazam has launched a new iOS app, the Shazam Player. Instead of concentrating on music discovery, the Player is meant to enhance listening to an existing library. This includes streaming lyrics, for instance, or sharing listening habits via Facebook or Twitter. Users can also view YouTube videos and concert clips, and keep track of concert dates for favorite artists.
A person's music library is integrated with links to the iTunes Store, and the option of marking favorite tracks while hiding others from playback. Library management options include creating both organized and on-the-go playlists.
Among other features of the app are the ability to jump to the original Shazam app, and the Track Tray, which displays options for each song. A Top Tracks section presents different collections of songs that have lyrics available; an initial example is Maroon 5's favorite songs.
The Shazam Player is a free App Store download.
