Cameras come with cam-management software

Wireless networking specialist Trendnet is showing off its additions to its Wi-Fi network range extenders and IP camera lines at CES with a total of 13 new products, most of the new models of IP cameras for home, SOHO and small-to-medium business (SMB) markets. Already offering 23 models of IP camera, the company has outed another 12 models to be launched over the next six months. The company also added a 300Mbps "N" range extender.

The TEW-736RE range extender is intended to eliminate dead spots in an existing wireless network, and features easy setup for WPS-compatible routers and access points. Users can simply push the WPS button on an existing router, then push the same button on the TEW-736RE and that's it -- the connection is negotiated automatically. The setup can also be handled manually using browser-based controls.

The unit features MIMO antenna technology, a three-year warranty and LED displays showing device and port status for easy troubleshooting. It will go on sale next month and retail for $60.

The new IP cameras being shown at CES bring upgraded imaging technology and other advanced features to the line, all of which include wall and ceiling mounting kits. Eight of the 12 new models now offer one-megapixel image resolution and use H.264 compression. Half of the new models are 802.11n compatible, the other half feature Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology to connect to the network.

Six of the models are intended for both normal and infrared recording, with "night vision" up to 25 feet, and six offer up to 330 degrees of pan and 105 degrees of tilt. The "n" models all also feature one-touch WPS buttons for easy connection to the network. All the cameras come with management software that works with up to 32 cameras, and Trendnet also makes available mobile apps to enable live IP camera viewing on 3G or Wi-Fi connected smartphones or tablets.

The megapixel resolution cameras are models TV-IP672WI (normal/infrared, "n" connection), TV-IP672W (normal, "n" connection), TV-IP672PI (normal/infrared, PoE), TV-IP672P (normal, PoE), TV-IP572WI (normal/infrared, "n" connection), TV-IP572W (normal, "n" connection), TV-IP572PI (normal/infrared, PoE) and TV-IP572P (normal, PoE).
