Panasonic hatches 2012 TV range at CES 2012

Panasonic has announced a huge lineup of new TVs for 2012 at CES. Previously reserving the large screen sizes for its line of plasma displays, Panasonic has now introduced two new lines of IPS LED LCD displays, the DT50 and the WT50. The new sets come in 47- and 55-inch sizes, which are surrounded in by an ultrathin metal silver metal frame.

Both the DT50 and the WT50 models utilize Panasonic's active 3D system and support 2D to 3D conversion on the fly, and headline a raft of 3D products that Panasonic has also unveiled at CES 2012 including 3D Blu-ray players, 3D projectors and 3D-capable Lumix cameras.

The new LED LCD TV's also incorporate Panasonic's super high speed 1920 backlight scanning that enables higher resolutions for moving pictures during sport and fast actions sequences. This same technology also significantly reduces 3D cross-talk making viewing easier on the eyes when in 3D mode. Both sets include built-in Wi-Fi, four HDMI inputs and USB ports.

All of Panasonic's new LED LCD and Plasma TVs, its Blu-ray players and home theater systems will also feature the company's VIERA Connect platform. VIERA Connect delivers social networking features, streaming video content, as well as integrated music and gaming apps.

Streaming content apps include Flixster, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus, Myspace TV, Disney, YouTube, Miramax, HSN and SnagFilms. Also added to the 2012 lineup include a TV-optimizes Web browser, a remote app for smartphones and tablets, and Social Network TV (which simultaneously streams Twitter and Facebook feeds as well as allow Skype functionality while viewing TV).

VIERA Connect is available on the new HDTV Plasma range (VT50, GT50, ST50, and UT50 Series models), the HDTV LED range (WT50, DT50, ET5, E50, and E5 Series models), the Blu-ray range (DMP-BBT01, DMP-BDT500, DMP-BDT320, DMP-BDT220) and the Panasonics home theater range (SC-BTT490, SC-BTT195, SC-BTT19)
