HTC and Nokia show at ATT Dev Summit w

AT&T at its Developer Summit has just confirmed the first-ever LTE-equipped Windows Phones. HTC's Titan II adds the much faster 4G speeds as well as a virtually record-setting 16-megapixel camera. The resolution is twice as much as on the original Titan and only has peers in just-launched Japanese phones.

Few details are available, but it's expected to keep the 4.7-inch screen and 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor.

Although not showing the work directly, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop confirmed that the company would be unveiling a 4G LTE-based Windows Phone at its own CES event later on Monday. It's expected to be the Ace, an American version of the upcoming Lumia 900. Most leaks have had it carrying a 4.3-inch screen and a possible metallic design.

Both the Titan II and Ace are expected early this year.

    Interesting looking phones, but 16MP???

The phones look interesting. If battery life is okay, I would love an LTE phone, and I also like the larger size (although these are not enough to get me to switch from my iPhone).

However, what really bothers me is the 16MP camera. This is completely ridiculous. The quality of the lenses and sensors on camera phones does not justify the higher MP, and the end result is simply much larger files with no gain in quality. What bothers me about this is that it is something done to the detriment of the consumer, while trying to "trick" them into thinking it is an improvement.

I'm a serious amateur photographer, and I hate the mega-pixel race for compact cameras, and even more for phones. This is the type of thing that comes from a marketing department, and is not done for the benefit of the consumer.
