Magellan shows GPS for truckers, RV drivers, more

Magellan has just unveiled four new GPS devices for CES, starting with the RoadMate RV9145 and 5190T GPS navigators and being joined by the the Switch Up and Switch GPS watches. The RV9145 uses a seven-inch touchscreen and is made with RV travelers in mind, as it contains the Good Sam Trailer Life RV Parks & Campground Directory with 11,700 campground locations in the US and Canada. Drivers can also program in their vehicle's weight, height, and width to get routes that avoid low overpasses or narrow roads.

The GPS also has Magellan's Smart Detour feature for finding alternate directions when traffic gets heavy and 2D and 3D map views. A ship date isn't revealed, but it will cost $330.

The five-inch RoadMate 5190T is made for truck drivers and also allows routing based on vehicle parameters. A Highway Lane Assist feature will help ensure truckers are in the right lane at junctions, and a truck speed limit overseer will warn drivers when they breach the limit at up to 93 decibels. A log feature lets drivers keep track of hours, mileage, and other trip numbers. When the GPS ship at an unspecified date, it will cost $380.

Finally, the Switch watches for runners gets a 1.26-inch display and a GPS receiver with an accuracy of between three and five meters. ANT+ technology inside collects data from an optional heart rate monitor or other compatible accessories. The watches are water-resistant to up to 50 meters (164 feet), promise up to eight hours of battery life, and can store as many as 60 hours of data. The Switch Up adds a vibrating alert system and includes a mount for cyclists and triathletes.

The Switch will cost $250 or $300 with a heart rate monitor. The Switch Up is priced at $300, or $350 with the same monitor.
