Microsoft cuts Indie Games developers some slack

Microsoft has relaxed the Xbox Live Indie Games limits. Among the new rules, independent game developers have had the 150MB ceiling lifted to 500MB for CCGAME bundles for publishing on Xbox Live Indie Games. Independent developers can now also charge users between charge as little as $1 per game, instead of the previous $3 or $5 entry points.

Rounding off the changes, independent developers can now also submit up to 10 games to Xbox Live Indie Games. This is up from the previous limit of 8 titles. Feedback from developers on the Xbox Live Indie Games thread about the changes is generally positive. Being able to charge as little as $1 per title is viewed as way of possibly increasing games sales overall. However, developers also are generally more interested in being able to access Achievements, Leaderboards functions as well as getting listings under general Xbox game titles.
