Sprint touts Galaxy Nexus as its first 4G LTE handset

updated 05:55 pm EST, Thu January 5, 2012

Device expected to resemble Verizon edition

Sprint appears to be readying Samsung's Galaxy Nexus handset. Online advertisements point to the upcoming offering, which is touted as the company's "first 4G LTE phone," however the company has yet to make a formal announcement. The placements appear to have been published ahead of schedule, as the ads lead users to a broken link on Sprint's website.

Although the Sprint offering would be expected to match the Verizon model, as both carriers share the same CDMA and LTE standards, the ad highlights a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, which contrasts to the 1.2GHz capabilities of the existing Galaxy Nexus editions already on the market.

Sprint's exact launch plans and pricing details remain unclear, however CES next week is a likely platform for an official announcement.
