Pantech Element tablet to mix waterproofing, LTE on AT&T

Pantech Element Andorid tablet due next week

AT&T should play host to at least one new tablet next week, based on a leak Wednesday. The Pantech Element seen by BGR would make water resistance and built-in LTE its selling points. With closeable ports, the eight-inch slate would be splash-proof and survive casual spills, though not a complete immersion in water.

Otherwise, the Element will be a straightforward but relatively low-cost tablet. A dual-core 1.5GHz processor (possibly a Snapdragon), a five-megapixel rear camera, a two-megapixel front camera, and 16GB of internal space. Pantech is bringing a lightly customized version of Android 3.2.

The tablet could be on shelves as soon as January 8, a day before AT&T's own Developer Summit at CES. At $300 on a contract and $450 without, it would be the cheapest tablet sold through AT&T so far.
