ATT may have three 4G Windows Phones at CES intro
Quickly coming on the heels of the HTC Radiant and Samsung Mandel leaks, a second potential scoop may have filled in considerably more detail with US launch plans. Windows-focused writer Paul Thurott understood that the Mendel and Radiant would be joined by the Nokia Ace, likely the Lumia 900, on AT&T. All three would have LTE-based 4G and ship before mid-2012, with an introduction at the AT&T and Nokia events at CES.
The Ace might be the first to ship, tentatively arriving March 18, while the rest may wait until later. All three would need the rumored interim Windows Phone update to use LTE and wouldn't ship without the Tango update, although the timing could see one or more ship with Tango ready.
Despite Verizon saying it would wait for LTE, it would get the Lumia 710 in April using 3G. It would likely stay the same as the T-Mobile version shipping January 11 save for the network switches to CDMA and EVDO.
If true, the launches would all point to Microsoft and AT&T recommitting to Windows Phone in a way they haven't so far. Apart from converting existing models to new networks, hardware supporters have so far followed a once-a-year strategy. The AT&T launches would keep Windows Phone in the public eye and give it a rare piece of hardware parity with Android, where LTE has been available since this spring.
