updated 06:45 am EST, Wed December 28, 2011

Trebuchet launcher alpha brings handy tweaks

The CyanogenMod Trebuchet launcher has now reached Android 4.0.3 devices. The alpha version of the software is available for download and maintains much of the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) theme, but delivers several useful new features. Among them includes the ability to create a custom number of homescreens as well as the ability to enable/disable the new persistent Google Search Bar on the main homescreen.

Users will also be able to separate apps and widgets in the drawer, resize any widget, enable show and fade scolling indicators in the homescreen and drawer, enable/disable auto-rotate and sort apps in the drawer according to title and install date. On the menu for future releases include infinite scrolling, dock enhancements, new transition effects between the homescreen and the drawer as well as the ability to backup and restore devices.

When complete, the Trebuchet launcher will be rolled into the CyanogenMod 9 release. [via Phandroid]
