Amazon Kindle Fire gets rough port of Android 4.0

updated 11:20 am EST, Tue December 27, 2011

Kindle Fire modified to run buggy Android 4.0.3

Those on the XDA-Developers forums have brought a rough build of Android 4.0 to the Kindle Fire tablet. The early build is meant to hash out a number of problems and features that still don't work with the help of the community. The About screen shows Android 4.0.3 is onboard, which was placed there with a CyanogenMod 9 root.

The build is hardly usable, as videos from the web don't work very well, as they skip through to the end. Some screen press registration issues also exist, and audio drops out more often than not. The Netflix app doesn't work, and the SD card slot has just been fixed to read content. Wi-Fi works, however.

The Kindle Fire does get automatic updates from Amazon, which have been known to remove roots in the past. [via Liliputing]

    RE:

I'm having tons of fun on my Kindle Fire, but I have yet to read a book on it.

It's kinda exciting to experiment with it the things I learned by watching the videos on this fanpage: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kindle-Fire-Reviews/286968834679702ent
