Manages documents via EchoSign account
EchoSign, which was acquired by Adobe this summer, has now produced an iOS version of its technology. The app, called Adobe EchoSign, lets users with an EchoSign account get documents digitally "signed" using an eSignature either in person or through other digital communication, manage documents and view stored signed agreements. Signer can either draw their signature using a stylus or invoke a typed, authenticated eSignature.
The application was developed to avoid the problem of having to print out and fax digital documents such as contracts in order to get signatures, then the recipient re-faxing the signed contract back and having to re-scan the signed page. Documents created in standard programs and saved as PDFs can be uploaded to the EchoSign server, where fields to be filled out can be specified. Recipients can type in filed information, and "sign" the document either by typing their name (the program substitutes a generic "handwriting" type font) or drawing their signature on a tablet or trackpad using a finger or stylus.
The web-based dashboard also offers real-time status updates on whether documents have been signed, and can be set to automatically forward copies of the signed document to interested parties. The eSignature is compliant with the Federal ESIGN Act, UETA and the Electronic Commerce Directive. The eSignature is protected via key authentication for security and identity verification.
The app (free) requires users to create a free EchoSign account in order to use the program. It works with all devices able to support iOS 3.2 or higher. For desktop and notebook computers, Adobe's full Acrobat software can also handle signing forms.
