Sony Xperia Nyphon first Sony-only branded device

Following Sony's buyout of the Ericsson's stake ending their ten-year partnership, the Sony Ericsson logo has been removed from their Hammersmith, England headquarters. Along with the spotting of the first leaked Sony-only branded handset, the Xperia Nyphon (pictured below), it appears the Sony is well into the transition phase. The re-branding exercise is expected to be complete by mid-2012.

The leaked Sony handset, the Xperia Nyphon is rumored to sport a dual-core 1GHz U8500 processor matched with 1GB of RAM. It is said to center on a 4-inch qHD display and packs the same 8-megapixel Sony camera sensor as used in the iPhone 4S. The Nyphon is expected to ship with 16GB of NAND Flash memory for storage. It will ship with Gingerbread, although an Ice Cream Sandwich update is expected relatively soon after its release. [via Pocket-lint]

    That didn't take long

This was a lot easier transition than Lenovo had with IBM. After all, not only was Sony's name already on the products, but it was the first name of the product. We all know who Sony is. We have no idea who Ericsson was.
