Wolfram changes bring Best Buy results to Siri

updated 01:40 pm EST, Fri December 16, 2011

Allows limited product comparisons

Siri now indirectly lets iPhone 4S users have access to information from Best Buy, notes RazorianFly. Earlier this week Wolfram announced that its Wolfram Alpha service would integrate data based on public Best Buy APIs, covering some 35,000 products. Because of a built-in Alpha applet, 4S users can simply ask Siri questions related to appliances and electronics to pull up Best Buy results.

Some options might, for example, involve asking for TVs over a certain screen size, cameras with a certain resolution, or dishwashers that will fit a particular height or width. Included in the Best Buy data is pricing, which allows people to treat Siri as a limited shopping tool. Because Best Buy is the only supported retailer at the moment, though, it is impossible to do price comparisons.
