Early 3DS adopters get free games this Friday

The promised free games for Nintendo 'Ambassadors' will be ready for download this Friday. Users have reported receiving SpotPass notifications informing them of the arrival. Nintendo instituted the 'Ambassador Program' when it decided to dramatically slash the price of the 3DS console after less than six months on the market following poor early uptake.

The full list of retro games includes F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, Super Mario Advance 3, Legend Of Zelda: The Minish Cap, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, Kirby & the Amazing Mirror, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Mario Vs Donkey Kong, Metroid Fusion, Wario Land 4, WarioWare, Inc. As fans of the franchise will be able to tell, the list of titles reads like a "Best of GBA."

The recent launch of key Mario and Zelda titles, along with the price cut from $250 to $170 has led to a tripling of sales of the console. The company has been doing it tough of late with sales of its Wii dropping off dramatically, while its handheld dedicated handheld gaming consoles have come under tremendous pressure with the popularity and low pricing of iOS game titles in particular, along with a similar effect coming from the high rate of Android adoption.
