Leak shows Android 4.0 for Galaxy S II, TouchWiz intact

updated 02:10 pm EST, Wed December 14, 2011

Unofficial Android 4.0 ROM for Galaxy S II out

Samsung is finally testing the Android 4.0 OS on its flagship Galaxy S II smartphone. A leaked build has emerged from December 7, SamMobile revealed. The customized Samsung version of the OS has the company's TouchWiz overlay in place with Android 4.0's distinctive features only showing when relevant.

It's also available for download and use on Galaxy S II handsets, but isn't an official ROM and therefore isn't sanctioned by Samsung or Google. Only experienced users are urged to flash it to their handsets, and it voids the factory warranty while on.

The source tested this ROM and reports that web browsing, calling, SMS messaging and more all work. Some apps aren't fully supported, however, and force close. The interface can also be very slow sometimes, and random reboots occur.
