Accessories: BBP now offering Mobiband BT headphones

updated 07:30 pm EST, Wed December 14, 2011

Hidden microphone allows doubling as headset

Computer accessory case and bag maker BBP Industries has opted to expand its offerings and include the Mobiband Bluetooth headphone set as a complementary extension of its product line. A hidden microphone with automatic echo-reduction allows the headphones to double as a phone headset, essentially an improved version of the Jaybird Sportsband. The design is foldable and offers up to 11 hours of music or talk time.

The rechargeable battery is rated for up to 250 hours of standby, and the headphones offer 20-20,000Hz fidelity without unnatural amounts of bass as found on some popular headphone models. The lightweight adjustable over-head band features a rubberized matte black finish, with music/call/volume controls on the sides.

Though the company feels that wireless headphones are now the way to go, it will also be preparing some wired headphone models. BBP has chosen not to support APT-x at the present time because neither iOS nor Android support it, but support can be added later. The headphones use Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR and support A2DP, HSP, HFP, AVRC codecs with a range of up to 33 feet.

The headphones are available now at an introductory price of $80, $20 off its normal price. At present, the headphones are only available in matte black.
