Uses Camera Connector Kit USB adapter
Marshall Electronics' MXL Microphones has launched a vocally-oriented USB-powered condenser mic called the MXL Tempo that can also be attached to an iPad via Apple's Camera Connector Kit, which includes a limited-use USB connector for the iPad. Aimed at podcasters and chat users, the mic includes a no-latency headphone jack for monitoring and works out-of-the-box with a wide variety of recording and chat programs.
The Tempo, which also works with Macs and Windows computers, sports a frequency range of 40 Hz to 18kHz and a sensitivity of -47dB (re 1 v/Pa). It includes a mini-mic stand, a hard mount adapter, and an a-to-b USB cable. It is available in two different color schemes: the Tempo KR features a black body and red grill, while the Tempo SK is silver-colored with a black grill. The mic stands about 7.5 inches high.
Both models are now available from the company's website, and retail for $80. The Camera Connector Kit is available from Apple retailers for $29.
