Live stream will cost $5 to view
Fortune's Senior Editor-at-Large and veteran Apple-watcher Adam Lashinsky will host a talk with Steve Jobs biographer Walter Isaacson at the Commonwealth Club of California in San Francisco tomorrow, December 14th. Although the event is sold out, the website Fora.tv will carry the conversation as a pay-per-view event for a $5 fee. Isaacson conducted over 40 interviews with Jobs for the book, and his biography of Jobs has been one of the year's most popular tomes.
The fee includes the ability to watch the live stream, which will start at 6 p.m. Pacific time (9 p.m. Eastern) and up to 30 days of on-demand repeat viewing of the event. Although Isaacson's analysis of Jobs' life and career has met with some criticism, the book has become an astounding best-seller, topping Amazon's and others' list of both the most popular book and e-book of the entire year, despite the fact that it was only released in mid-October, shortly after Jobs' death.
Isaacson has been interviewed about the book many times, but rarely by anyone as knowledgable about Apple as Lashinsky, who has been covering the company as a journalist for nearly a decade and who authored one of the few articles that detailed the internal decision-making process at Apple under Jobs for Fortune earlier this year. Thus, the conversation is likely to produce more discussion of Apple's current executive team and the future for the company going forward.
