Intel Atom N2600 gets early benchmark tests against others

Atom N2600 posts favorable early test numbers

A series of early benchmark tests centering around the upcoming Intel Atom N2600 have been performed by NetbookLive. The low-power Cedar Trail chip uses 32nm architecture and uses dual cores to attain its 1.6GHz clock speed, though these specs aren't yet official. Intel's integrated HD 3600 graphics running at 400MHz are onboard and it should support as much as 2GB of RAM.

The source tested the chip in an ASUS Eee PC X101CH. The tests revealed that Flash 720p video on YouTube plays back on the netbook and local 1080p content can also be played back. There is no fan in the system, and heat wasn't an issue either.

In comparison testing with the Intel Atom N570 and AMD C-50 chips, the N2600 proved slower in raw CPU tests than the former, but much faster in terms of graphics processing. It scores a lower score in the PCMark Vantage test than the C-50, but higher in the Cinebench 11.5 CPU test and Crystalmark. It was also noticeably lower in the graphics performance.

These early test results may also change by the time the chips are finalized. They have reportedly been delayed due to some issues with software drivers. [via NetbookNews]
