Robot takes advantage of several sensors

Canadian startup EZ-Robot currently offers a range of modular components that enable hobbyists to build or upgrade robots. The "personal robotics" products include hardware and software geared for programmers, non-programmers, Arduino users, iRobot Roomba owners, prototype builders and educational users.

The company's complete kit includes a Bluetooth-enabled wireless robot controller, EZ-Builder control software, a tracking camera, ultrasonic distance sensor, five servos, a battery pack and several other necessary items.

The basic components can then be used as the basis for hobbyist projects. The company demonstrates how the system can be used to retrofit toys such as the Omnibot 2000, Wall-E, and Teddy Ruxpin, among others. The software includes source files for the retrofit projects, while several other robots have been designed by community participants.

The complete robot kit sells for $235, however the stock is currently depleted. The company has yet to announce a shipping time frame for the next production round.
