Possibly new Wacom Intuos4 tablets show at FCC

updated 05:10 pm EST, Fri December 9, 2011

3 wireless models submitted to FCC for approval

Wacom may soon be introducing an updated family of wireless pen tablets. The maker of digital pen input devices has submitted to the FCC three new products for wireless radio certification. It is likely that these will update the Intuos4 tablet that the company introduced in February 2010.

What's new about the input surfaces isn't clear, although accuracy and controls are usually part of any upgrades.

The first wireless Intuos4 offered had a 9.4-inch diagonal surface area and a stylus with 2,048 levels of pressure. Wacom has submitted three new products to the FCC indicating that the company might be broadening its Bluetooth offering with three different sizes, corresponding to its small, medium and large versions. The models sent before the FCC are branded the PTK-450, the PTK-650, and the PTK850. If Wacom is consistent with its USB-based Intuos pen tablets, these would have active areas measuring 6.2x3.9, 8.8x5.5, and 123.8x8.0-inches width by height respectively. [via Engadget]
