Aperture updated to v3.2.2, adds iCloud, iOS 5 compatibility

Numerous bug fixes, improves gestures

Apple has quietly updated its pro-photography program Aperture to version 3.2.2, adding compatibility with iCloud and iOS 5 while also addressing a host of issues and bugs. In addition, the new version allows Microsoft Outlook to be used by Aperture for e-mailing photos, and allows new gestures to be used in conjunction with trackpads. The app now automatically remembers to open in Full Screen mode if it was exited in that state.

The update addresses a number of issues, including one that could prevent auto-imported Photo Stream images from being displayed in the library after a users' photo count hits 1,000 images. The Lift & Stamp tool now correctly displays cursor icons when being used in Split View and Viewer only modes, the import windows now offers an option to delete photos from iOS devices after they've been imported into Aperture, and an occasional glitch where Aperture running in Lion could display the wrong color profile on externally-edited images has been fixed.

Left and right swipe gestures now let users navigate among photos in the Viewer, and the pinch-to-zoom gesture now makes Aperture go into Full Screen mode. The Loupe tool now correctly displays magnification levels between 50-100 percent. The update also resolves an issue that sometimes caused the "Loading" indicator to re-appear in the Viewer when cropping a photos, and a problem with Aperture running in Lion that might cause the program to quit unexpectedly when using brushes.

The update is recommended to all Aperture 3.x users. The program and its update is available exclusively through the Mac App Store and sells for $80. It requires Mac OS X 10.6.8 or higher.
