SoundTracking for Android brings in Rdio, Spotify listening

SoundTracking for Android out now

Schematic Labs has announced that SoundTracking (Free, Android Market), its social music sharing app, is now available for Android. The app is designed to allow users to capture a moment in their lives with music and share a track that they are listening, in real-time, using Facebook, Twitter or Foursquare. Users can also share a photo as well as a geolocation, along with the song snippet.

However, unlike the current iOS version, which limits users to 30 sec clips of the shared songs through iTunes, Android users will enjoy and expanded listening experience. Users will have the option to listen to a shared track either in Rdio or Spotify, offering the opportunity to listen to a track in its entirety.

"We don't want to decide what music consumption service they should use. We would like to be able to offer a choice," says Schematic Labs co-founder Steve Jang.

"If users end up liking something they discover through this collective music timeline, they should be able to have a seamless user experience to play it or add it to a playlist."

Jang also said that if iOS users show an interest in having Rdio and Spotify integration that Schematic Labs would look into adding the additional functionality to the iOS version too.

Version 1.0.0 of SoundTracking is currently shipping now, and requires Android 2.2 or higher to function properly. [via Tech Crunch]
