ZTE V881 Blade+ brings Android, is just $158 contract-free

ZTE V881 Blade Plus arrives

ZTE is promising to raise the bar somewhat for the most entry level in smartphones through the V881 Blade+. The design recently passed certification and will cost just 1,000 yuan ($158) despite having features from a more advanced phone from a year ago. A 3.8-inch, 480x800 touchscreen will come along with a second-generation 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 512MB of RAM, and a five-megapixel camera.

Sacrifices are few and mostly center on the absence of a front camera and a relatively light 4GB of internal storage.

It's not known when ZTE will ship the Blade+ to stores. Its phones sometimes reach the US and Europe as budget models, leaving a good possibility that the phone will be an option on carriers like T-Mobile or regional CDMA carriers. [via Engadget]
