Motorola Droid 4, Xoom 2 ME with AT&T 3G reach FCC

updated 07:45 pm EST, Mon December 5, 2011

Commission docs corroborate recent leaks

Corroborating recent leaks, Motorola's Droid 4 and Xoom 2 Media Edition appear to have arrived at the FCC for approval. The Commission's documents point to an unannounced handset, presumably the Droid 4, that was tested in "slider open" and "slider closed" configurations. The device also provides dual-mode roaming functionality, with support for Verizon's LTE and CDMA networks alongside GSM, EDGE and WCDMA.

Following Verizon's official confirmation that the Xoom 2 would arrive at the carrier as the Droid Xyboard, the smaller 8.2-inch Media Edition appears to have arrived at the FCC for approval on AT&T's 850/1900 MHz GSM network.

Leaks suggest the Droid 4 will pack a dual-core 1.2GHz OMAP processor, along with a Super AMOLED display and a camera capable of shooting 1080p video. Images show a shape that mimics the Xoom 2 and Droid Razr, but with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Rumors point to a December 8 launch date for the Droid 4, however availability for the AT&T Xoom 2 Media Edition remains unclear. [via Engadget]
