Android 4 7-inch tablet in China trades for $100

California-based MIPS Technologies and China's Ingenic Semiconductor have teamed up to create what they say is the first Android 4.0 tablet. It will cost less than $100 uses a 1GHz XBurst CPU. The OEM tablet is now shipping in China under the Ainol Electronics brand and will arrive in the US and other countries over the next few months under other brands.

These include Leader International and OMG Electronics. The tablet has a seven-inch capacitive touchscreen and gets Wi-Fi, a USB 2.0 port, an HDMI 1.3 connection and a microSD card slot. It can play back 1080p video thanks to its Vivante GC860 graphics processor and has two-megapixel rear and unidentified front cameras. A GPS sensor is also present.

The Ainovo NOVO7 tablet costs less than $100 without a carrier subsidy in China.
