Amazon cancels ASUS Transformer Prime orders due to shortage

Amazon repeats ASUS tablet shortage history

Amazon has shown ASUS repeating its pattern of early tablet shortages after sending cancellation notices to early buyers. Orders for the quad-core tablet have been dropped due to a "lack of availability from suppliers," Amazon said. It encouraged shoppers to try third-party resellers trading through Amazon for alternatives.

While demand is likely to have played a part, ASUS when it shipped the Eee Pad Transformer turned out to have just had sustained production problems even for its relative amount. ASUS is rumored to be making just 350,000 Primes during the fall and could have just a few dozen thousand set aside for the US.

The drop could see customers either turn to other online stores for early December 12 orders or waiting until December 19 to get the Prime at a retail store. Most stores will sell it from $499, although GameStop will have a $540 bundle with extra apps.
