Samsung outs S Pen developer kit for Galaxy Note

The promised software development kit for the S Pen input in the Galaxy Note has now been posted online by Samsung. Developers will now have the ability to add a basic canvas, eraser and undo/redo buttons and a tools window for the pen's settings such as opacity, line color and girth. Version 1.0 of the SDK differs from the native stylus support in Android 4.0 because it's tailored to the special S Pen, which has a capacitive touch tip and configurable button, unlike run-of-the-mill styli.

The Galaxy Note sports a 5.3-inch, 1280x800 display and a Wacom digitizer, which makes it well-suited as a device for artistic users. The device otherwise gets a 1.4GHz, dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM, along with 32GB of storage.

The handset hasn't yet been officially announced for a North American release, but is expected to be at January's CES show.
