TV expected in the first quarter of next year

Lenovo is reportedly preparing to launch a 'smart' television, which will be designed to work in conjunction with smartphones, tablets and computers. The company has yet to disclose full details, though the new TVs are said to take advantage of Internet connections and capable of sharing content between the company's range of devices.

Several other companies are expected to release connected TVs late this year and early next year, though competing devices from LG and Samsung are said to be based on Google TV. Without cooperation from major studios, however, the search giant's Android OS has achieved lackluster results as a platform for televisions and set-top boxes, pushing companies such as Logitech to back away from the segment.

Lenovo is expected to use the label 'Ideatv' in international markets, where the devices are expected to arrive by the first quarter of 2012. The company has yet to disclose a full set of features, or provide information such as pricing. [via ComputerWorld]
