Mag+ adds Go, Lead, other options to tablet publishing

updated 11:30 am EST, Tue November 29, 2011

Supports iOS, Android Honeycomb platforms

Mag+ has made several upgrades to its publishing platform, aimed at companies making magazines and other similar material for tablets. The first is Mag+ Go, a cheaper $199 license which covers just a single app and single issue; this makes it practical to put out content like books and catalogs. Other languages and operating systems, though, must be added at a cost of $199 each.

On the opposite side of the spectrum is Lead, which costs $3,000 a month but lets companies produce multiple apps and issues. This wraps in unlimited app builds, publishing to other platforms, and personal support, among other touches. Below Lead is the $2,500 Grow option which covers a single app with multiple issues for five months, but costs $500 a month for unlimited publishing thereafter.

Mag+ says its platform as a whole has been upgraded with in-app music playlists, multiple options for custom branding, and support for Android tablets running Honeycomb, including the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Motorola Xoom. The Mag+ tools are a free download for test purposes.
