Lenovo launches new 7- and 10-inch Android tabs

Lenovo has added new 7-inch and 10-inch tablets to the 5-inch LePad S2005 Android 'phablet' launched earlier today. The new tablets run Android 3.2 (Honeycomb), but are said to be inline for an update to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) in the near future. Unlike the planned US launch of the IdeaTab K2 variant, which will sport Ice Cream Sandwich and the new NVIDIA 3 quad-core processor, the new tablets incorporate dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processors clocked at 1.5GHz.

Further, where the IdeaTab K2 (not displayed at today's launch) will match 2GB of RAM with quad-core processor, the new S2007 and S2010 will only incorporate a 1GB RAM module. In addition to sharing the same processor, the S2007 and S2010 also share the same screen resolution of 1280x800. This takes the pixel density of the 7-inch model to 216ppi, although both incorporate IPS technology giving them the same 178-degree viewing angle.

The similarities don't end there. The new tablets both integrate an 8-megapixel camera into the rear and a 1.3-megapixel camera for video calls. Battery life is also very strong with the 7-inch model getting up to 8 hours from its 3,780mAh battery, while the 10-inch version gets a solid 11 hours from its 7,560mAh pack.

Both will be available in Lenovo's home market of China early in December with no news yet of a US launch for either device or pricing. [via Engadget]
