Extensive update adds speed, 64-bit gains
Barely a month after the last major update, Avis Nocturna has upgraded its 3D terrain rendering program TerraRay to version 6.0, bringing with it a 25-50 percent performance gain thanks to an optimized renderer, which also now fully utilizes 64-bit processors. The new version also features volume-based cloud rendering, new rock presets and a new algorithm to generate them, a new grass algorithm and other various improvements.
Nearly every aspect of the program has been improved, including a new cloud editor, a new color vibrance post-processing effect, better lighting controls, and improvements in the user interface, texture quality and fog creation. The program also now comes with more sample scenes added.
TerraRay v6 is exclusively available through the Mac App Store, and is on sale through the end of November for $10 (normally $20). Updates are free for existing customers. Mac OS X 10.6 or higher is required, with Lion's features fully supported.
