Sony Ericsson drops in-house Sync in favor of Google

updated 04:20 pm EST, Mon November 28, 2011

Sony Ericsson to shut down Sync service Dec. 29

Sony Ericsson is phasing out its Sony Ericsson Sync service in favor of Google Sync. It explained that the older service was meant for an older generation of phones. The company instead suggested that users switch over to Android's Google Sync, or alternatives such as Plaxo and UNYK.

Google Sync is preferred as it also integrates with Google Mobile services like Voice Search, Google Maps and YouTube. The Sync service lets users back up and share their contacts, calendar and Gmail.

The Sony Ericsson service will be completely shut down on December 29.

    Sony can't do software

Beside the PS3, Sony has ever failed any product that required software development (DAT, MD Disc, MP3 player, PDA, Cell Phone).
