Samsung Galaxy Nexus volume fix leaks early

Galaxy Nexus volume patch slips out early

Samsung's upcoming volume fix for the Galaxy Nexus has escaped early. A post of the firmware at MoDaCo lets those willing to unlock the bootloader on the Android 4.0 phone put on a pre-release version of the fix. The upgrade has to be loaded through a Mac, Linux PC, or Windows PC and carries risks as unfinished code.

The bug only affects the first wave of HSPA+ models and is limited mostly to owners in Europe. Either using 900MHz GSM for voice or being near those who do will periodically change the volume without warning. Sometimes, the volume is locked down and requires rebooting the phone to get control back.

Editionsl of the Galaxy Nexus reaching Canada won't be affected, and the Verizon model's use of CDMA for voice leaves it untouched by the problem.
