Apple's Black Friday may have easily set all-time high

Apple Black Friday cracks record by 7PM

An internal leak from Apple's retail system may have confirmed breakthrough numbers for its Black Friday sale. The company had been anticipating four times its usual daily sales, the 9to5 source said, but managed to beat that "all over the country" at 7PM, in many cases two or more hours before store close. While numbers were kept secret, Apple supposedly managed its best sales day ever.

Much of the credit was owed to Apple often having some of the better discounts, if not the best. The iPad's $41-plus price savings often made it the easiest place to visit. Sales of the MacBook Air did particularly well, according to the tip. The $898 starting price wasn't as good as the $850 at Amazon, but it was likely the best most would find in a physical store.

The rush could be instrumental to Apple cementing its tablet lead and as many as 5.3 million Macs shipping in one quarter.

Apple may get a minor lift from any of the smaller discounts it offers on Monday as well as from third parties that keep their sales going for longer.
