HTC mulls using Chrome OS on netbooks, tablets

HTC to make devices with Chrome OS and Android?

Parts suppliers indicated to Digitimes that HTC is contemplating making portable devices that use Chrome OS. The gadgets might sit between tablets and netbooks. Chrome OS boots quicker and can run on both ARM and x86 devices, but Chromebooks from Acer and Samsung haven't been selling well and are priced higher than Windows systems.

The sources speculated Chromebooks will need to come down to $200 price levels before they are more widely adopted. As part of an official price slashing plan, Acer currently sells its 11.6-inch Cromia AC700 for $300, while Samsung's models start at $350. The two were price drops of $50 and $80 each.
