Verizon leak shows Xoom 2 launch on December 8 for $430

updated 10:20 pm EST, Tue November 22, 2011

Both sizes slated for early December

Verizon is reportedly readying Motorola's second-generation Xoom tablets to launch on December 8. A leaked document is claimed to show minimum advertised pricing (MAP) and availability dates for the 8.2- and 10.1-inch models. The smaller tablet with 16GB of storage appears to cost $430 with a new contract, while the larger model starts at $530.

The document, which was posted on Droid-Life, lists the second-generation models as "Motorola Tablet," rather than "Motorola Xoom," providing further corroboration for reports that point to Droid Xyboard as Verizon's unique marketing twist.

The revised models integrate new displays, thinner cases, and 1.2GHz TI OMAP processors. Users will be able to take advantage of dual cameras, including a five-megapixel primary sensor, along with a claimed ten-hour battery for the 10.1-inch model and a six-hour cell in the smaller edition.

It is unclear if the Verizon leak includes placeholders for the pricing structure, as the US launch was originally expected to bring lower prices than the international variants.
