Exo Flak Jacket case for iPhone 4/4S uses aluminum plates

updated 02:50 pm EST, Thu November 17, 2011

Case requires some assembly

Extended Access has released the Exo Flak Jacket, a new case for the iPhone 4 and 4S. The accessory uses aircraft-grade aluminum, with an anodized coating for extra protection. It ships in the form of front and back plates, which must be manually fastened together using screws and a screwdriver, both of which are included.

Each side of the iPhone is generally left exposed, providing access to all ports and buttons. The case comes in nine different colors: black, silver, orange, blue, green, champaign, yellow, gray, and purple. Extended Access is selling the Exo Flak Jacket for $50.

    Tragic example of overdesign

It's too bad the designer of this thing has produced a classic example of superfluous detailing at the expense of a good, solid, functional product.
