Nokia video leaks higher-end Windows Phone

updated 10:10 am EST, Wed November 16, 2011

Nokia Lumia 900 possibly seen in official ciip

Nokia might have already spoiled its higher-end Windows Phone through a developer video (below). The clip shows a considerably sleeker device with what could be a larger screen than the 3.7-inch display on the Lumia 800. It might also aim for a seamless look by hiding the Windows Phone navigation buttons until the phone is turned on.

The Finnish phone builder says little else other than to refer to it as part of Nokia's "stunning new hardware."

As shown, the phone might be the manifestation of the Ace, the codename for Nokia's rumored third phone, or something else altogether. Nokia's naming scheme currently leaves room open for a Lumia 900 that might be the true peak of the lineup.

The new phone, if real, is unlikely to show until early 2012 and may be Nokia's first completely original Windows Phone. Both the 710 and 800 are borrowing from the aesthetic or direct design of an earlier phone, such as the 800's reusing of the N9. It also suggests that talk of an AT&T Nokia phone with LTE might be the mystery device and not just a recycled Lumia 800.

Update: Just as we were posting the story, Nokia took the video private. The removal may have unintentionally confirmed that the hardware is a real, planned phone and not just a concept.
