RIM launches new BlackBerry 7 handsets

RIM has made the BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380 official. The long-rumored and oft leaked devices are said by RIM to be "available from various carriers around the world over the coming weeks." Specific launch dates will be forthcoming.

The Bold 9790 continues RIM's return to building devices with more premium finishes. It is powered by a single-core 1GHz processor and includes 8GB of RAM onboard. An microSD card slot can increase storage by up to an additional 32GB. It centers on a 2.44-inch (360x480) touchscreen display.

The Curve 9380 is the first all-touch smartphone to carry the Curve name. It centers on a 3.2-inch (480x360) capacitive display and features a 5MP camera with LED flash and video recording. RIM has chosen to keep the rest of its specs under wraps for the time being, at least until someone conducts an obligatory teardown of the device.

Both devices run RIM's BlackBerry 7 OS with enhanced browser with voice-search capabilities. They also offer support for augmented reality apps and include NFC functionality.
