Microsoft Research releases 'Code Space'

Microsoft Research has released a new user interface for sharing content across devices and displays using Kinect technology. Project 'Code Space' has currently been implemented for developers who are working in small teams and who want to move content from a presentation onto their device simply by using a hybrid of touch and air gesture interactions.

Although deployed in practice only for developers at this time, the innovative solution could easily be transferred to a classroom or business context. The air interactions with gestures allow users to take content from a display and move it to devices including laptops, tablets and smartphones.

According to Microsoft Research, developers who have used the configuration were positive about the interaction design and found that using the technology to point at devices and or using hand gestures to retrieve content as being 'socially acceptable.'
