Leaked renderings show 4.5" 720p display

HTC is reportedly readying a new flagship Android smartphone, which is being referred to by the code-name 'Zeta.' Unconfirmed reports suggest the device centers around a 4.5-inch display with 720p resolution, along with a quad-core Snapdragon processor running at 2.5GHz. The company is said to be pairing Ice Cream Sandwich with the latest Sense UI overlay.

Press renderings posted on Engadget show sharp corners and a deeply contoured backside, contrasting from leaked images of another unannounced handset, the Edge, that carries an appearance closer to the Sensation XL and many other HTC handsets. Despite the aesthetic differences, however, both the Edge and the Zeta are claimed to integrate 720p displays and quad-core CPUs, though the former is rumored to utilize a 1.5GHz Tegra 3 chip.

The Zeta is also expected to offer 32GB of onboard storage, an eight-megapixel primary camera with dual-LED flash, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing sensor, 1080p video recording and Beats Audio enhancement.

HTC has yet to publicly confirm plans to launch a device that matches the Zeta's rumored specs, though the company typically unveils many of its latest devices at the Mobile World Congress expo in February.
