Eighth German Apple Store to open on Thursday

updated 10:40 am EST, Mon November 14, 2011

Rare late-November opening

Apple is opening its eighth German Apple Store on Thursday, at 9:30AM local time. The outlet will be based in the Main-Taunus-Zentrum shopping mall in Sulzbach, on the outskirts of Frankfurt. It is in fact approximately 10 miles from the Große Bockenheimer Straße location in downtown Frankfurt, the country's financial capital.

The MTZ opening is significant not only for being just the eighth in Germany, but relatively late in the year. Apple tends to schedule most store launches before late November, since it wants outlets in place before the peak of the holiday shopping season. Most of its recent openings were accomplished by early October, in time to prepare for the launch of the iPhone 4S.
