One of many Friday launches
Today's South Korean iPhone 4S launch was met with long lines, at least at KT's flagship store in downtown Seoul, says local news agency Yonhap. There a lineup is said to have formed before sunrise. SK Telecom is also putting iPhones on sale however, marking an end to KT's exclusivity. The first 100 people to pre-order with SK were treated to a midnight event where phones were activated and Korean hip-hop acts performed.
Apple is rolling out the iPhone 4S to over a dozen new regions on Friday. Aside from South Korea these include Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, El Salvador, Greece, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Malta, Montenegro, New Zealand, Panama, Poland, Portugal, and Romania. The Hong Kong launch is reported to have been especially large, with thousands of people flocking to the city's single Apple Store. Apple has no direct retail presence in Korea.
