HTC Rezound ships early, gets unboxed

updated 04:25 am EST, Thu November 10, 2011

HTC flagship

The HTC Rezound has shipped early and has already been given an unboxing video (embedded below). Not expected to ship until November 15, the a number of users who placed pre-orders over the phone with Verizon have already either received their handsets, or having received shipping confirmation notices. The latest HTC flagship, it is fitted with a 720p (1280x720) display and a dual-core 1.5GHz snapdragon processor.

As with HTC's recent crop of headlining Android smartphones, the Rezound also comes with special Beats Audio processing and can be ordered with Beats earphones that trigger a custom audio profile. Although powered by a dual-core processor, the Rezound only runs the now outdated Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS, which does not fully support dual-core processors.

Users will have to wait several months at least, before HTC gets around to testing Android 4.0 on the device and rolling it out over-the-air. Making that process that somewhat longer is that it ships with HTC's Sense 3.5. Ice Cream Sandwich, like Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), are the only versions of Android that fully support multiple CPUs.

The device carries an LTE chipset giving the device 4G speeds, and incorporates an eight-megapixel rear camera and a two-megapixel front facing camera. [via Phandroid]
