Samsung trots out Galaxy S II in pink for 'lady' users

updated 08:45 pm EST, Wed November 9, 2011

Samsung makes odd pink Galaxy S II available

Samsung took an unusual direction Wednesday after it released the Galaxy S II in pink. The bright color comes after the white version and original black. The company doesn't shy away from its reasons for the color and claims that it will appeal to "lady consumers and young generations."

The phone is functionally as capable as the original, which centers around its 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen. A dual-core 1.2GHz Exynos chip still makes it one of the fastest current smartphones, and it has both an eight-megapixel back camera and a two-megapixel camera at the front. Samsung currently ships it with Android 2.3 and won't have 4.0 ready until 2012.

Korea is getting the pink Galaxy S II first and making it available through at least SK Telecom. Samsung hasn't said if or when the hue will reach other countries, although it has already exported the white to at least some other parts of the world.
