Sprint's Transform Ultra, DuraCore dates seen early

updated 09:50 am EDT, Fri November 4, 2011

Sprint to get Transform Ultra, DuraCore soon

Sprint will offer two new handsets in time for the holidays, with the launch dates and prices revealed by leaks sent in to SprintFeed. The first is the Android-powered Samsung Transform Ultra, which is also available at Sprint label Boost Mobile, where it costs $230 on a pre-paid, no-contract basis. It will arrive on November 13 and cost $80 after all rebates and discounts and with a two-year contract.

The Android 2.3 phone carries a horizontal-sliding QWERTY keyboard, a 3.8-inch touchscreen, and a 1GHz processor. A three-megapixel rear camera is braced by a front-facing camera for chats.

The Kyocera DuraCore is the other new arrival and also ships on November 13. The direct-connect handset will cost $70 on a contract. It will apparently be sold from candy-inspired displays, which is ironic as the device has a military-spec durable body. It gets a bidirectional speakerphone and Bluetooth. Also missing are a camera and bundled memory card. It will get Land Mobile Radio (LMR) interoperability, simultaneous data with the push to talk voice, and availability notification.
